History

Like many nations in Africa-Pangea, Rwanda has seen its share of internal strife. The two indigenous tribes, the Hata and the Toto - have been in conflict with each other ever since the reformation of the nation. The Egyptian Strait once separated Hata ruled Uganda on the northwestern side of the canal from Toto governed Rwanda - located on the southeastern side of the strait. Rwanda became Congo’s close ally during the Spanish invasion of 1977 - when the Spanish Conquistadors attempted to seize control of northern Congo, a bloody affair that saw 500,000 Spaniards fall. The Rwandan Defense Force paramilitary group (RDF) rose from the ashes of that conflict - and are a key ally to the state of Congo.
